HSE Emergency First Aid at Work (6 Hours)

Awarding Body

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE Centre Reg No. 29/99 NUCO).

Duration

6 Hours usually on one day. Can be provided as a one day block or a programme of shorter sessions.

Course Outline

This new HSE approved qualification came into effect on the 1st October 2009, along with new guidance on assessing the needs of First Aid in your workplace. Your risk assessment of First Aid needs may well identify the need for Emergency First Aiders, either as an addition to your First Aiders, or where the risk of your business is low, it may well identify them as being sufficient, without the need of additional First Aiders.

The course programme is designed for individuals who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in First Aid. By the end of the course, candidates will be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge and skills needed to deal with life threatening emergencies in the workplace.

Awarding Body

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE Centre Reg No. 29/99 NUCO).

Duration

18 Hours usually over three days. Can be provided as a three day block or a programme of shorter sessions.

Course Description

It is a requirement of Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. If the assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need for qualified First Aiders, then this course will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.

Certification

All successful students will be issued with a First Aid at Work Certificate, lasting for a period of 3 years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualifications. This certificate would enable the holder to act as a First Aider in the workplace under the 1981 (First Aid) Regulations. In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of about 3 hours, although it is not mandatory.
